
Bio
Sinéad O’Loughlin studied English, Media & Cultural Studies in IADT Dun Laoghaire and completed an M.A. in Drama & Theatre in NUI Galway. She writes short fiction and has written and directed for theatre, radio and film.
Her first short Homecoming (2016) screened at over 40 film festivals and won seven awards including Best Irish Narrative at Kerry Film Festival awarded by a jury that included Jim Cummings (Writer/Director Thunder Road, Short Film Grand Jury Prize, 2016 Sundance Festival) and Ben Cleary (Writer/Director Stutterer, 2016 Academy Award Winner, Best Short Film). She was nominated for the Rising Star award at Underground Cinema awards 2017 and the Young Director Award by ICAD/CPI in 2018. Homecoming screened on RTÉ Shortscreen in May 2018.
Her second short Stray (Arcade Film, 2019) starring Marie Mullen, will premiere in October 2019.
Based in Cork, Sinéad is currently in development with Arcade Film for two short films for 2020 and has been commissioned to write a short screenplay for The Playhouse Derry/Londonderry which will be shot in early 2020.
