Representation & Lobbying For You

 

One of the core functions of SDGI as the representative body of screen directors in Ireland is to lobby on your behalf to raise awareness of the work of Irish Directors. This involves engaging in dialogue with key policy making bodies in film and the arts to ensure that directors are fairly represented and have a clear and effective artistic voice.

 

Information Resource, Contacts and Advice

 

SDGI provide legal representation on contracts for members at a guild negotiated rate.

 

SDGI staff are always available to provide both general information and more specific legal, contract and financial information and advice to members. Our website also acts as a valuable resource in this regard.

 

Members wishing to work internationally may draw on the Guilds extensive contacts abroad through its affliations with key international film organizations.

SDGI provides members with a monthly newsletter, which includes industry news, updates on SDGI campaigns, projects and events information.

The SDGI website contains members contact details, biogs and professional credits and acts as a ‘one stop shop’ providing information, advice & industry news. Visitors to the site are also kept up to date on the progress of SDGI campaigns, projects and events.

SDGI produces a comprehensive web based directory of Irish directors. Membership of the Guild entitles all members to automatic inclusion in this invaluable industry resource.

 

Screen Directors Collecting Society of Ireland

 

Your membership fee for SDGI also entitles you to become a member of the Screen Directors Collecting Society of Ireland (SDCSI) . SDCSI operates as a collecting agency of behalf of Irish directors to collect and distribute payments due to directors for the exploitation of their work Nationally and Internationally.

 

Networking Opportunities

 

SDGI provides members with an opportunity to share knowledge and experience through its Directors Club, a forum which allows directors to come together and discuss the intricacies of their trade in a relaxed and informal setting.

 

Finders Award

 

The annual Finders Series Award in association with the Directors Guild of America presents an Irish Director with an opportunity to screen their film to key American distributors, agents and press.
