

Bio
Ronan O’Donoghue has over 10 years experience writing, producing and directing for the screen across a variety of genres.
Having directed his first short Crowning Glory (2001), he went on to serve as head writer and director for 26 episodes of the TG4 comedy series Rí Rá (2001-2002), following this a writer, director and producer of the acclaimed spoof-documentary series Incognitus (2002) again for TG4.
He produced and directed the hugely popular travelogues Amú le Hector (2003) and Neelo (2004) for TG4, garnering IFTA nominations for each. In 2005 he produced and directed the hugely influential sports series Underdogs (2005), again for TG4. In 2006 he wrote and directed What did you do that for, Helen? under the IFB/RTE Short Cuts scheme. He directed the landmark series Me and the Big C (2007), funded by the BCI for TV3, telling the stories of cancer patients in the South West, which he followed with another BCI series The Gift of Life (2009), also for TV3, following the lives of people awaiting organ transplants.
In 2007, he began as Series Director of the massive hit entertainment series Celebrity Bainisteoir (2007-2011) for RTE, going on to serve as Series Director for four commercially and critically acclaimed series’, picking up 3 IFTA nominations along the way. Recently he has completed a stint as Series Director and Scriptwriter of the popular RTE2 series ICA Bootcamp (2012), and produced and directed the acclaimed sports science documentary Faster, Higher, Stronger (2012) for RTE1. He is currently directing The Gathering for RTE1, a landmark series that will launch the year long celebration of Irish culture in 2013.
