Bio
Mark O’Connor studied film in Ballyfermot and has a Masters in Screenwriting from IADT and a diploma from the New York Film Academy. He has written and directed over 60 shorts films some of which have won festivals and been screened on RTE.
His debut feature film funded by the Irish film Board which he wrote and directed was ‘Between the Canals’. Between the Canals was highly acclaimed with Film Ireland calling it ‘The best Irish film in a long long time’. It received four stars from entertainment.ie and many of the unknown cast such as Peter Coonan and Barry Keoghan have gone on to become leading Irish actors starring in the hit RTE television series ‘Love Hate’. ‘Between the Canals’ was released in cinemas and on DVD throughout Ireland and the UK.
Mark’s second feature film ‘King of The Travellers’ which he wrote and directed was funded by the Irish Film Board, TV3 and BAI. King of The Travellers was selected for various festivals around the world and received a UK and Irish cinema and DVD release and was also released in 150 territories worldwide on VOD.
‘STALKER’ was Mark’s third feature film which he wrote and directed. It won the Underground Film Festival and won Runner up Prize at the Galway Film Festival.
Mark has just completed his fourth feature film ‘Cardboard Gangsters’, due for release summer 2016. Mark is currently in development on two feature films and a television series for TV3.
