Bio

 

Born a Rebel, raised in The Kingdom and now living in the City of the Tribes, Louise continues to have an identity crisis–a theme that has been central to her work as a filmmaker to date. One of the most exciting voices working in the industry today, she has recently directed Eipic, a 6-part comedy-musical drama series about five rural teenagers who take over their abandoned post office to start a musical revolution. The series earned her an IFTA nomination for Best Director at the 2016 IFTA TV Awards. She has also directed the multi-award winning short, Rúbaí (Irish Film Board) which was selected for the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival during which time Louise featured in Indiewire’s Meet the Women Directors series. Other works include the stylistic drama Lá Breá Chuige, Ros na Rún, and the IFTA-winning creative documentary, Páidí Ó Sé-Rí an Pharóiste (TG4).  Her writing credits include the drama series Seacht (BBCNI/TG4), Ros na Rún (TG4), Fair City (RTÉ), and the RTÉ/Filmbase short, Cured.  In post-production is her self-penned short Dead Leaf Moth – a black comedy about a sociopath whose subtle manipulations upset the balance of power.  She’s currently developing her first feature, Mother’s Day, a stylistic black comedy about a carer who loses her mind while caring for someone who is literally losing theirs. 

New ideas excite her and she’s deeply passionate about getting to the heart of complex, bold and quirky stories. It’s a joy for her to connect with actors and to explore with them a character’s journey, to reach and reveal the magic at the heart of everything. She’s committed to working with imaginative teams to direct challenging stories that make a difference.
