Bio

 

Jake McKone is a member of both the Screenwriters Guild of Ireland and the Screen Directors Guild of Ireland. His first short film 'Rearview' won best short at the Celtic Media Festival in 2009.  His feature mockumentary ‘Strange Days are These’  premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh 2008 and was screened at the IFI as part of the Ireland on Sunday series.

His next short film ‘Gonadz’ won the Element Pictures ZONAD short film competition in 2010.    

‘Speed Trap’ an 8 minute short comedy was broadcast on RTE Shortscreen August 2015.

His most recent film, 'The Ladies' (2016)  won the Audience Award at the 9th Oddalenia Film Festival 2017 and screened at The Garden State,  Newport Beach, Boston Irish, Belfast Film Festival and Flickers Rhode Island Festival this year.

 

His short script, ‘My Mother Shoes’ won the best script at Kerry Film Festival in 2005 and was shortlisted for Storyland (2016), Kildare County Council Short Grass 2017, DLR Short Film Scheme 2017 and DC Shorts Screenplay Competition 2017.

(2007) – 12 minute short drama. Winner Best Short Film at the Celtic Media Festival 2009 (1st out of 414 short films). Sold for screening to NBC & HBO by Network Ireland TV.

 

 

Strange Days are These

 

(2008) – 52 minute mockumentary. Premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh 2008.

 

Selected for screening at the IFI as part of the Ireland on Sunday series.
