
Bio
Fergal Reilly is a director and longtime story/concept artist who is based in Los Angeles, California. He originally hails from Ardee, County Louth, Ireland. After studying Design Communications at D.L.C.A.D, now The National Film School at I.A.D.T he arrived in Hollywood at the age of nineteen to work as an animation apprentice for Walt Disney Feature Animation. He later became a story artist on some of the biggest and most critically acclaimed live-action and animated movies of the last 15 years including ‘The Iron Giant’ and ‘Spiderman 2’. Reilly has worked as a storyboard artist and storyman for Walt Disney Pictures, Warner Bros, and Sony/Columbia Pictures with such directors as Sam Raimi, Brad Bird, Jon Favreau, Barry Levinson, Rob Minkoff and The Farrelly Brothers.
As a story-artist he has designed and helped create some of the most spectacular action sequences ever put on film including the train battle between Spiderman and Doc Ock in ‘Spiderman 2’. He has also taught advanced story development at the internationally renowned California Institute of the Arts and lectured at The Rhode Island School of Art and Design (R.I.S.D) and Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida. In 2003 he joined Sony Pictures’ new animation division and has worked there as a Director and Head of Story helping develop projects for their family entertainment slate. His credits include THE IRON GIANT, SPIDERMAN 2, STUART LITTLE, WALT DISNEY’S THE HAUNTED MANSION, THE LONGEST YARD, THE HEFFALUMP MOVIE, OPEN SEASON THE SMURFS and CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS. He is currently directing the cg film adaptation of THE FAMILIARS with Doug Sweetland based on the children’s book of the same name. The movie is being produced by Sam Raimi and Josh Donen for Sony/Columbia and is due for release in Spring 2014.
