Bio

 

Anna Rodgers is a director and producer with Crossing the Line Films. She is producer on Alan Gilsenan’s feature documentary The Yellow Bittern – the Life and Times of Liam Clancy (IFB/RTÉ) which has been released theatrically in Ireland by Element Pictures. In 2008 she produced the concert film in New York Liam Clancy and Friends: Live at The Bitter End. Currently, Anna is producing the series Growing Up Gay for RTÉ which follows the lives of LGBT young people over a year, and Treasure of the Dark Ages, a documentary on the Faddenmore Psalter, an 8th century manuscript discovered in a bog.

 

Anna has also directed a number programmes and shorts for television, including the series Dorn Lan Duil (co-director) for TG4, Swing Talking for Dance on the Box, and most recently If These Walls Could Talk for the Irish Film Board’s Reality Bites scheme.

Today is Better than Two Tomorrows is filmed and directed by Anna Rodgers, and is her debut feature documentary. It has been selected for numerous festivals including Jameson Dublin Film Festival, Thessaloniki, Galway Film Fleadh, Thin Line Film Festival and Canberra Vancouver International Film Festival. It has also been screened as part of Ireland on Sunday in the Irish Film Institute.

 

Anna started her career as a researcher, and worked for Alan Gilsenan on some groundbreaking Irish television series such as The Hospice and The Asylum.

Anna taught creative documentary in DKIT (2007/2008), and gives regular classes in DIT’s School of Media. She has a BSc (Honours) from DIT Aungier Street (Film and Broadcasting, 1996-2000).
