Bio
Andrew graduated with honors and an award winning run from the National Film School of Ireland with his graduate film , the fantasy , Traum. Compared to the work of Junet and Caro , commercial companies came calling and Andrew shot his debut commercial for Levi's Jeans in Ireland. With Andrew's double honors degrees in Art Direction and Direction he was called on by fabled US producer , Roger Corman to design two films and then direct one. This was followed by more award winning short films , commercials and music videos which he shot through his own production company, ASYLUM in Ireland.
Culminating in him being nominated as Best Director for the travel agency spot , U.S.I.T Now 'The Orient ' by the Institute of Creative Advertising in Ireland for II BBDO and winning the prestigious Irish Film Board 'Short Cuts' Award for his 3rd short film , Up the Country.
His second short film , The Kiss of Life was selected by the world's premier shorts festival , Clermont Ferrand in France. Up the Country revived theatrical distribution in US , playing at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood as well as selling to several markets , France , UK, Germany , Italy and Canada.
Moving to Budapest, Hungary for further commercial opportunities exposure, adventure and a film opportunity from Roger Corman , Andrew got a further taste of American filmmaking and moved to LA in 2006.
Since then Andrew has designed well over 150 campaigns and music videos for the top agencies , labels , brands, artists and directors. Bud Light , Nissan , Eminem , Ke$ha, Burger King working with every major label and agency ; BBDO NY , Ogilvy , CP+B, Interscope, Universal , Warner's , Sony with top tier directors Marcus Nispel , Mark Pellington , Kevin Kerslake and Jeff Tremaine.
Inevitably Andrew was drawn back into directing , first in the UK with a major commission from Universal UK and Austria to create a music film and 3 spot campaign to launch Broadway Star , Noah Stewart on the recording stage. Creating a film that placed Noah in a luxurious and sophisticated world of James Bond , Without a Song ( a cover of the Sinatra Song) not only launched Noah as a recording artist it became the first album in history to go No.1 for an African American Artist in the Classical Charts and went on to be nominated for several Brit Awards.
Quickly a commission from the US followed for electronic act , GUNSLINGER. Again Andrew shot a classic 'road film' narrative which stunned audiences for its audacity and intensity. This visionary film marked Andrew entering into the new wave of filmmakers utilizing the enormous developments in digital technology and how this has irrevocably changed the way films are made and seen.
GUNSLINGER proved to be such a breakout hit that The Weeknd ( Universal's top new talent) head hunted Andrew to shoot the long form film for his title track for his debut album , Kiss Land. Again Andrew employed the new technologies to craft a visionary film inspired by the dark world of Philip K Dick ( Blade Runner).
Kiss Land lead to ICM contacting Andrew to direct his first feature film , the cyber punk noir, CITY OF ROBOTS , currently in casting stages.
Further film commissions quickly followed from Japan for Swiss Reimagined , a complete rebrand of the luxury watch line and from Britain for fashion designer Victoria Webb England. These fashion based commercials / films have opened Andrew up to the luxury / fashion market and is exited to explore this further.
Andrew has just completed another epic video assignment from Warner Bros. for the world's biggest hard rock band - Avenged Sevenfold. Andrew conceived the film for This Means War as an epic battle and at over 7 minutes is a true assault on the senses , already being compared to the the iconic Chemical Bros video 'Out of Control'.
Andrew has also entered into the experimental market ( Playstation , 2k Games, IKEA) pitching on campaigns for BBH , Team One and Ogilvy. This new area perfectly combines his design skills and employs his new wave approach to shooting content -delivering impeccable cinematic quality and also allowing him to capture natural poetic moments.
Andrew is exited to further extend his reach into the advertising , branded and experiential markets both in the US and internationally.
A new wave of content , media and filmmaking has dawned and Andrew prides himself on being at the forefront of this groundbreaking new movement.
Shooting projects all around the world from Los Angeles to Beirut , further inspires him to explore new cultures and trends and keeps him firmly on the pulse of what is happening in the ever developing world of content creation and trend setting.
Oculus Rift is now on his radar to create a film which will forever change the viewing experience.
The future is bright with unlimited opportunities....
