Bio
Aidan Duffy is a filmmaker based in Dublin. His breakthrough short film Mirrorman premiered at the Short Film Corner of the Festival de Cannes and won the Ichi-Go Ichi-E award "for the film which encapsulates supreme uniqueness, creativity, and innovation" at Hollywood's L.A. Diversity Film Festival. He was also nominated for Best Screenplay at the Underground Cinema Awards and the short was broadcast on RTÉ2 as part of the Shortscreen programme.
His following film Nostalgia.exe also premiered at Cannes' Short Film Corner and competed for the Grand Prix Irish at the 59th Cork International Film Festival the year that event joined the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' list of Oscar-qualifying festivals. The French subtitled version of the short competed at the 2nd Courts des Îles Festival, Tahiti, French Polynesia which highlights films whose directors have island homelands. The short also aired on RTÉ's Shortscreen.
Duffy's most recent short film The Observation Level won the Jury Award at the 2nd Pink City International Film Festival in Jaipur, India and was a semi-finalist at the Global Short Film Awards.It was broadcast as a "Movie Of The Week" selection on Shorts HD, the world's most popular short film channel
In addition to his short films, Duffy has directed the music videos "Creep" and "Bellend" for i am niamh, his regular composer, and served as Casting Director and Script Supervisor on the Filmbase feature film The Randomer, written by Gerard Stembridge. He has also served as a juror for Dublin's Firehouse Film Contest, CreActive International Open Film Festival Bangladesh, and Paris International Cinefest.
